Todd Hunter Band: News
Goodbye (for now...) - March 7, 2008
Okay, here's the bad news: I likely won't be able to keep up the song-a-week pace for awhile because of the good news: I have started recording my own solo record with the lovely and talented Mike Petkau as producer/engineer. Of course, this is in addition to the new THB record. I guess we'll see which one gets finished first!
New! THB in rehearsal - March 1, 2008
"Star" is a song we're anxious to include on our next record. Here is a loosely-jammed version ripe with errors that we did in rehearsal a few weeks back.
The Idol - February 22, 2008
I'm a day late and the vocal suffered due to my nasty headcold but here it is: "The Idol" is my ode to the dream of pop stardom. You can even download this one!
My First Valentine Song - February 14, 2008
I'm feeling all fuzzy and warm in this unusually balmy Winnipeg weather (about -44 Celsius...twice as cold as an industrial food freezer) because it's Valentine's day! And for this week's new song offering I have written a song called "Valentine" about love at the end of the world. It is hands-down the most bizarre song I've written to date (I actually included "harbingers" and "HowToSurvive2012.com" in the lyrics) but I hope you still enjoy it.
In other news, it looks like our song "Life Is Good" will close out one of the next two episodes of the TV show Heartland (CBC)!
The Grammys - February 11, 2008
The last time I watched the Grammy awards was about 20 years ago when Tina Turner performed "What's Love Got To Do With It?". As fate has it, I tuned into last night's Grammy Awards to see, once again, Tina Turner performing the same song. Needless to say, I changed the channel. Perhaps I'll tune into the Awards in another 20 years. By then I'll WANT to see if Tina Turner can still sing that song...
INOROUT(demo) - February 7, 2008
I just demo'd this gambling song I wrote (even though I don't really gamble).
Trust No 1 - January 31, 2008
this new demo shows why I failed piano many times as a kid...
White Soul - January 24, 2008
"Sometimes" is the result of my first foray into Logic Studio - it's a cool program that lets me create drum, bass & keyboard parts along with pro multitrack recording & mixing...
Love Me Still - January 17, 2008
I recorded this week's entry very quickly, (one take of guitar & vocal into ProTools then an overall limiter & stereo delay - DONE) but the song comes across anyway. You can let me know if you like it by commenting at the Guestbook!
New Song... - January 10, 2008
"Lost" is one of a series of songs I'm writing which delve into the thoughts and feelings I experienced during or after the better part of a year I spent seriously ill. Not surprisingly, you can expect these songs to be a bit sombre...
Happy 2008! - January 3, 2008
Here's my first song of 2008. I could barely eat or drink anything last Christmas so I made up for that this holiday. Feeling woozy now though...
Merry Christmas! - December 24, 2007
My two year-old daughter is soooooooo excited...
Entry 18: Electrikkk - December 20, 2007
Forgiving the jibberish lyrics and highly noticeable drumming screwups, I had oodles of fun recording "Tried".
Song 17: You Decide - December 12, 2007
I had quite a bit of fun making this demo. I played around with my gear, made some new discoveries, and finished demoing this brand new song in the process. Enjoy :)
Song 16: A Brand New One! - December 6, 2007
Here's a rough demo of "When I See You", a new song I've been working on. This recording marks the first time I've used a Shure SM7B for vocals. Michael Jackson sang through one on the "Thriller" album, and Neil Finn used one on the new Crowded House...
Entry 15: And Now For Something Completely Different... - November 29, 2007
I played all the parts on this power-pop demo (as if the hilariously mis-timed drum fills and lack of guitar solo wouldn't reveal that fact!). I think "InoUnoIno" is about our awareness of the environmental damage we do, in spite of our complete lack of taking personal responsibility for the results. Mmmmm...preachy.
Song #14: "Say, Do You, Too?" - November 22, 2007
Found this ditty recently. We might have even played this song live a few times...
Lucky #13 - November 15, 2007
I just found this old demo for a song called "The One Thing" buried deep inside my hard drive. Enjoy :)
Song #12: Song Evolution (part deux) - November 8, 2007
Here's another version of "Luckiest Man Alive" - I think we were trying for a Dire Straits "Sultans Of Swing" vibe with the acoustic guitars...
Song #11: One That Didn't Make The Cut - October 31, 2007
We thought we'd cut "Luckiest Man Alive" and put in on REMEMBER, but ended up shelving it after trying a couple of different arrangements. Here's one of 'em.
